How to prepare for your first visit

How to Prepare for Your First Visit...In order to provide you with a complete examination, your first visit may take up to two hours.  Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow us time to process your registration.  For your convenience, you may print and complete the patient registration on our forms page ahead.  Your insurance will be verified prior to your visit.  Call your primary care doctor if a referral is required with your insurance—referrals should be in place before the visit.  Request any previous lab reports or CT scan reports related to your visit from other doctors be sent over to us before the visit.   Let us know if you need assistance.

What to Bring:  1) A list of all medications you are taking, including vitamins, and note the doses and strength of each; 2) Your insurance card AND a photo ID; 3) Your co-payment or deductible that is due at check-in—cash, check or credit card accepted.  Please call us if you have any questions.

What to Do Ahead:  For the convenience of our patients, as well as helping to accurately diagnose your allergy or asthma problem, our doctors may decide to perform allergy skin testing at your first visit.  Test results are known before you leave.  You should stop taking antihistamines, including over the counter cough and cold medicines and over the counter sleep aids, 3 days or more before your visit.  See chart below.  It is not recommended or necessary to stop other medications, such as those prescribed for heart or asthma conditions.  Some medications may also affect test results, but should not be stopped without a doctor’s advice.  Please note that we may not always be able to test on a 1st visit for other reasons and skin testing is not indicated for all conditions.  Blood tests are drawn in nearby facilities with results typically available within one week.  Talk to our clinical staff about any specific questions you have regarding testing or preparing for a visit.
